National public relations and marketing communication consultancy, Fenton Communications, last night won two Victorian Awards for Excellence from the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).

The awards recognise excellence, best practice and professionalism in public relations.

Awarded at a cocktail event at Gallery 101 in Melbourne, Fenton Communications received an award for the National Psychology Week 2007 campaign with the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and an award for the 2008 Premier’s Active Families Challenge with the Victorian Government.

Both campaigns are now in the running for a national award, which will be announced at the PRIA National Conference in October.

Head of Consultancy, Melanie Wilkinson, said, “It’s fantastic to be judged by your peers, particularly with a record number of entries in the 2008 PRIA Awards. Winning these awards reflects the creativity, hard work and partnership approach that we apply to all of our clients.”

“We are currently working with both the APS and the Victorian Government to build on the success of the National Psychology Week and the Premier’s Active Families Challenge.”

Melanie along with communication consultants Kate Doman, David Micallef and Adelle Coote worked with the APS on the National Psychology Week 2007 campaign, while Melanie, Emily Armet, David Micallef, Adelle Coote and Fenton designer, Mandy Gazzola, developed and delivered the campaign for the inaugural Premier’s Active Families Challenge.

: ‘Think Well, Be Well’ was the key message for the National Psychology Week 2007 campaign, which involved a major community research project on Australia’s attitudes towards ageing and an integrated campaign to APS members, stakeholders, media and the community.

About the Premier’s Active Families Challenge: The Premier’s Active Families Challenge is part of the Victorian Government’s ‘Go for your life’ strategy and provided an opportunity for Victorian families to participate in an inclusive and achievable physical activity Challenge.

Fenton Communications worked with the Department of Planning and Community Development to develop an integrated campaign incorporating partnerships, advertising, online, media relations, promotions, events and incentives.

The inaugural Premier’s Active Families Challenge exceeded all objectives, with nearly 8,500 Victorian families (28,538) participating in the Challenge. Fenton Communications is currently working with the Victorian Government for the 2009 Challenge.
